The INGAA Foundation’s board of directors elected Paul MacGregor, vice president, supply chain, for Calgary-based TransCanada Corp. (TSX:TRP) (NYSE:TRP), as its new chairman for a one-year term beginning November 8.
“Paul, with his extensive experience in pipeline operations and construction, understands what it takes to build a pipeline safely and on time, and ensure it operates safely and reliably. This passion for safety—of pipeline assets and of the workers that build and operate them—makes him an excellent choice to lead the Foundation for the coming year,” said INGAA Foundation President and Chief Executive Officer Don Santa.
The INGAA Foundation brings together pipeline operators and contractors—including construction companies, pipe mills, engineering companies, consultants, environmental and safety groups and others—to facilitate the efficient construction and safe and reliable operation of the North American natural gas pipeline system.
MacGregor’s top priorities for the INGAA Foundation over the next year will be:
1. Moving the industry toward an even stronger safety culture to ensure the safety of all workers and the pipeline it builds and operates. (A safety culture is the attitudes, beliefs, perceptions and values that employees share in relation to safety.)
2. Building a stronger culture of quality, particularly as it relates to materials and services. This is a key imperative for moving the industry toward its goal of zero pipeline incidents.
3. Communicating the benefits of natural gas and the vast pipeline infrastructure that has facilitated our North American energy revolution.
“I’m excited about taking the helm of the INGAA Foundation,” MacGregor said. “The Foundation, which brings together operators and pipeline contractors, offers a unique venue to develop reports, workshops and studies that benefit not only the pipeline industry but the entire natural gas industry.”
As vice president, supply chain, MacGregor is responsible for all of TransCanada’s supply chain management and procurement needs. He also manages business support services such as warehousing and inventory, employee training and development, and resource planning and analysis.
Prior to his current role, MacGregor was vice president of eastern business development for TransCanada, and previously held various positions in facilities planning and evaluation as well as finance and operations. He holds a Bachelor of Applied Science in Civil Engineering from the University of Waterloo and an MBA, with a major in accounting, from McMaster University.
MacGregor has been an active member of the INGAA Foundation since 2005 and served as vice chairman as well as chairman of the planning and studies committee last year.
Also November 8, the board elected Robert A. Riess, Sr., president and CEO of Sheehan Pipe Line Construction Company, as first vice chairman.
The INGAA Foundation was formed in 1990 by the Interstate Natural Gas Association of America to advance the use of natural gas for the benefit of the environment and the consuming public. The Foundation’s completes a number of reports and studies each year and establishes safety guidelines for pipeline construction, operation and employee safety.
