Management of Ground Movement Hazards for Pipelines

This guidance document is the result of a Joint Industry Project with fourteen pipeline operators and two industry integrity management service providers.  The overall objective of this project is the development of a best-practice document on managing ground movement hazards. The hazards of focus in this project are landslides and ground settlement, including mine subsidence. It is the intention of this JIP ground that this document should address nearly all major elements necessary for the management of such hazards. The report covers the following topics; methods to identify and assess hazards, girth weld performance under strain, use of IMU data, mechanical properties of pipe and welds, girth weld anomaly identification, FFS assessment, Mitigation and Monitoring, and Process Management.
