WASHINGTON – Don Santa, president and CEO of the Interstate Natural Gas Association of America, today released the following statement in response to Transportation Secretary Ray LaHood’s call for enhanced pipeline safety:
“We look forward to working with the Transportation Department and its agencies to ensure the safest, most reliable pipeline network possible.
“INGAA’s members are committed to pipeline safety. Last month, we formally adopted a set of five guiding principles for pipeline safety, including a goal of zero incidents – a perfect record of safety and reliability for the national pipeline system. These guiding principles stemmed from a recently formed INGAA board-level pipeline safety task force, which is charged with looking at ways to improve the industry’s safety performance and restore public confidence in the natural gas pipeline infrastructure.
“We intend to work every day toward a perfect safety record, and we are glad to have the Transportation Department and Secretary LaHood as a strong and committed partner in this effort.”
