INGAA commends President Obama for recognizing importance of U.S. natural gas

Don Santa, president and CEO of the Interstate Natural Gas Association of America, today released the following statement, commending President Barack Obama for recognizing in his State of the Union address the importance domestic natural gas will play in our nation’s energy future and urging him to remember the role of pipelines in delivering critical energy supplies to market:

“We appreciate President Obama for recognizing the role of domestic natural gas as a pillar of U.S. energy policy, and we urge him to remember the critical role pipelines play in bringing this vital energy supply to market.

“We urge the president and regulators at all levels—federal, state and local—to support policies that promote the prudent and safe construction and operation of midstream infrastructure, including pipelines, storage, processing and other facilities. Without pipelines, the economic, environmental and energy security benefits of producing domestic natural gas resources will not be realized. Pipeline infrastructure development creates thousands of American jobs and contributes to America’s energy security.
