The board of directors of the Interstate Natural Gas Association of America today elected William “Bill” Yardley as chairman for a one-year term effective through October 2019. Yardley is executive vice president of Enbridge (NYSE:ENB)(TSX:ENB) and president of Enbridge’s gas transmission and midstream group.
“During a period of both great challenges and great opportunities for the natural gas transmission industry, Bill is well qualified to lead INGAA in promoting pipelines as the indispensable link needed to translate our energy abundance into economic prosperity,” said INGAA President and CEO Don Santa. “Bill’s decades of management experience and his expert knowledge of the industry and the market make him perfectly suited to be INGAA’s leader in communicating to policymakers the economic and environmental benefits made possible by our nation’s safe, resilient natural gas pipeline network.”
Yardley’s priorities as INGAA chairman include:
- promoting the benefits of natural gas infrastructure to policymakers and key influencers
- supporting policies that build public confidence in the safety, reliability and resiliency of natural gas pipelines
- encouraging regulatory reforms that ensure the predictability and efficiency of the pipeline permitting process

We must continue to build and maintain public confidence in the safety and reliability of our pipelines. At Enbridge, Yardley leads the company’s natural gas pipeline and midstream business across North America. He is also the president and chairman of the Board of Spectra Energy Partners. Previously Yardley was president of Spectra Energy’s U.S. Transmission and Storage business. Spectra was acquired by Enbridge in 2017.
Yardley holds a bachelor’s degree in economics from Colby College and a master’s degree in business administration from Northeastern University. He has also completed Harvard Business School's Advanced Management Program.
INGAA’s board also elected Stanley Chapman III, a TransCanada (TSX: TRP)(NYSE:TRP) executive vice president and president of the company’s U.S. natural gas pipelines, as first vice chairman and David Slater, a DTE Midstream (NYSE:DTE) executive vice president and president of the company’s gas storage and pipelines, as second vice chairman.
