On May 10, the Senate Energy and Natural Resources Committee will hold a hearing on the nomination of FERC Chairman Joe Kelliher for another term. According to Committee staff, the recent discussions between Chairman Kelliher and Energy Committee Chair Jeff Bingaman on natural gas market transparency have been positive, and thus the prospects for Kelliher’s confirmation have improved. The Committee can be expected to vote on the Kelliher nomination in the next month or so. Senate floor action is still subject to speculation, but there do not appear to be any immediate problems with such a vote.
