Longtime industry veteran to guide board of leading natural gas pipeline trade association in 2020
The board of directors of the Interstate Natural Gas Association of America (INGAA) have elected Stanley (Stan) G. Chapman, III as chairman of the organization. He will serve a one-year term after recently completing a term as INGAA’s first vice chairman. Mr. Chapman is the Chairman of the General Partner for TC PipeLines GP, Inc. and serves as executive vice-president and president of TC Energy Corporation’s U.S. natural gas pipelines.
“Stan’s leadership and vision in promoting the pipeline industry’s strong commitment to the safe, reliable and efficient delivery of natural gas will be important as we work to realize the benefits of our country’s natural gas abundance and increasing global demand for this clean energy resource,” said INGAA president and CEO Don Santa. “His experience leading TC Energy and its vast network of critical energy infrastructure here in the U.S. make him ideally suited to chair INGAA as we work to advance our key priorities in an ever-changing political environment.”

I plan to do this on behalf of our members and the tens of thousands of employees and contractors who work every day to safely and efficiently deliver clean-burning natural gas to consumers.”
At TC Energy, Mr. Chapman is responsible for all pipeline operations and commercial activities across TC Energy’s FERC-regulated transmission and storage assets, as well as its unregulated midstream business. Prior to TC Energy, Mr. Chapman served as Columbia Pipeline Group’s (CPG) executive vice president and chief commercial officer before CPG was acquired by TC Energy in July 2016.
Mr. Chapman holds a bachelor’s degree in Economics from Texas A&M University as well as a master’s degree in business administration from the University of St. Thomas.
INGAA’s board also elected David Slater, DTE Midstream’s president and chief operating officer, as first vice chairman and Kimberly Watson, Kinder Morgan’s president of the company’s north region pipelines, as second vice chairman.
INGAA’s 2020 priorities include:
- Promote the Role of Natural Gas Infrastructure as a Foundation of Our Nation’s Energy Economy;
- Emphasize the Essential Role of Natural Gas and Natural Gas Infrastructure in Achieving National and Global Environmental Aspirations;
- Protect the Statutory and Regulatory Framework that Facilitates a Vibrant, Market-Responsive Interstate Natural Gas Pipeline Industry;
- Protect the Reliability and Resilience of the Interstate Natural Gas Pipeline Network;
- Promote Pipeline Safety Solutions That Embrace Risk Management, Technology and Innovation; and
- Promote Natural Gas Infrastructure Permitting Predictability.
Chapman concluded: “Communicating the environmental benefits of natural gas and our laser-like focus on safety and stewardship is critically important. I look forward to working with the INGAA staff and my colleagues to advance these priorities over the coming months.”
