INGAA Statement on Bipartisan American Affordability and Jobs Act of 2026

WASHINGTON, District of Columbia, September 30, 2026 – Amy Andryszak, President and CEO of the Interstate Natural Gas Association of America (INGAA), released the following statement on the Bipartisan American Affordability and Jobs Act of 2026:

“Today’s announcement of bipartisan permitting reform legislation marks a historic breakthrough for American energy and infrastructure policy. After years of gridlock and a permitting system that has too often left energy projects stalled, Congress is on the verge of delivering meaningful permitting reform. INGAA looks forward to reviewing the legislative text to fully understand the details of the proposal and the ways it will accelerate the development of energy infrastructure.

Natural gas is the backbone of the American energy system, and meeting projected demand through 2052 will require more than $1 trillion in new midstream capital investment. Greater certainty in the permitting process and more efficient reviews are essential to enabling the buildout of the critical gas pipeline infrastructure needed to meet growing demand and ensuring a reliable, affordable energy future. Improvements to the Clean Water Act, the National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA), judicial reviews, and permit certainty are all key elements to improving the permitting process.

We thank Senate Environment and Public Works Chair Shelley Moore Capito, Senate Energy and Natural Resources Chair Mike Lee, Ranking Members Sheldon Whitehouse and Martin Heinrich, and their staffs, for their leadership and bipartisan collaboration on such an important issue. We look forward to continuing to work with Congress to move this legislation forward.”
