INGAA outlines key priorities for partnering with the Trump Administration

WASHINGTON, District of Columbia, March 31, 2025 – Amy Andryszak, President & CEO of the Interstate Natural Gas Association of America (INGAA) sent a letter today to President Donald J. Trump, outlining ways INGAA is hoping to partner with the Administration to achieve its goals of American energy dominance.

“In our letter, INGAA thanked President Trump for establishing an agenda aimed at unleashing American energy at home and abroad. INGAA members are excited to partner with this administration to deliver on that agenda by prioritizing the following actions:

Eliminate excessive regulatory burdens by crafting balanced federal regulations which allow pipeline operators to employ innovative technologies and engineering practices without making natural gas unaffordable or thwarting economic growth.

Reform federal energy infrastructure permitting processes to create a clear, predictable, and durable statutory framework that will allow pipeline operators to modernize existing infrastructure and develop new pipelines to meet our shared energy, economic, and security goals.

Provide tax relief and cost recovery that incentivizes domestic infrastructure investment. As a capital-intensive industry with extended project lead times, the natural gas pipeline sector thrives with a corporate tax system that allows, for example, pipeline operators to utilize tax deductions for expenses incurred for routine repairs and maintenance of their assets.

Enable a strong federal safety regulator in the Pipeline and Hazardous Safety Materials Administration (PHMSA). Our members strive for zero incidents by inspecting and maintaining their pipeline infrastructure and staunchly support a strong PHMSA to ensure accountability and robust, durable, and consistent regulations.

Deepen collaboration with industry on security matters to safeguard our infrastructure and the well-being of the thousands of individuals, homes, businesses, industries, and electric generators that rely on the fuel provided by our pipelines, as well as the well-being of citizens living or working near our facilities. By bolstering public-private partnerships with bi-directional information sharing, operators can continue to protect their cyber and physical assets.

“INGAA believes this administration has an opportunity to reverse costly regulations and put in place durable policies and statutes that will allow the natural gas pipeline industry to develop the energy infrastructure necessary to deliver on the commitment of energy dominance. We look forward to working with President Trump and his administration to achieve these goals.”
