WASHINGTON, District of Columbia, December 3, 2025 – Amy Andryszak, President & CEO of the Interstate Natural Gas Association of America (INGAA), released the following statement upon the vote to approve the National Petroleum Council (NPC)’s reports: From Bottleneck to Breakthrough: A Blueprint for Permitting Reform, and Reliable Energy: Delivering on the Promise of Gas-Electric Coordination.
“INGAA and our members commend the NPC for their work putting forward bold, actionable recommendations to reform federal permitting processes for oil and gas infrastructure and to improve gas-electric coordination. We urge policymakers across the three branches of government and at the state and federal level to carefully consider these recommendations and swiftly act to expand and modernize the energy infrastructure vital to achieving our nation’s energy goals.
“Additionally, we thank Secretary Chris Wright for his timely request to the NPC to undertake this analysis and put forward its recommendations. Together, these reports highlight a clear imperative: we must act now to build the energy infrastructure required for a reliable, affordable, and secure energy future.
“Natural gas and the infrastructure that moves it are the backbone of the American energy economy. In addition to heating homes and businesses reliably and affordably, natural gas has become the largest source of electricity generation in the U.S., accounting for 43% of the generation share in 2023. We have sufficient gas to fuel this country for generations to come, but to keep up with growing energy demand and ensure reliability of the bulk power system, we must expand our energy infrastructure system, including by building more interstate natural gas pipelines.
“The reports highlight key challenges with the gas and electric sectors that must be addressed to meet growing demand and ensure healthy alignment between the industries. The report also presents a clear path forward, recommending market and permitting reforms to ensure we have the incentives and regulatory certainty needed to facilitate investment in critical energy infrastructure. INGAA and our members encourage expeditious action to address the problems identified in the reports. We stand ready to work with Congress, the Federal government, and States to develop the natural gas pipeline and storage infrastructure that will allow us to achieve our shared goals.”
