WASHINGTON – If there was one thing Winter Storm Fern reminded us of, it is how critical reliable energy infrastructure is for American families and communities.
A new report from the Natural Gas Council, which includes the Interstate Natural Gas Association of America, American Gas Association, American Petroleum Institute, Independent Petroleum Association of America, and the Natural Gas Supply Association, looks at how the nation’s natural gas system performed during Winter Storm Fern, helping meet soaring energy demand and support electric reliability during one of the winter’s most challenging weather events.
As policymakers continue discussing energy reliability and infrastructure needs, this report reinforces the critical need for permitting reform as well as the role of the interstate natural gas pipeline network in delivering affordable, reliable energy when it is needed most.
About the Natural Gas Council: The Natural Gas Council was formed in 1992, uniting all sectors of the natural gas industry to work together toward common goals. The five full members of the Council — the American Gas Association, the American Petroleum Institute, the Interstate Natural Gas Association of America, the Independent Petroleum Association of America and the Natural Gas Supply Association — collectively represent nearly all the companies that produce, transport and distribute natural gas consumed in the United States. Leadership of the NGC rotates annually. www.NaturalGasCouncil.org
