America needs more pipelines to keep natural gas affordable

Across the board, Americans are feeling it in the pocketbook.

Start with the kitchen table. Groceries cost more. Housing costs more. Utility bills are climbing.

Amid that pressure, one part of the energy system has remained stable. Natural gas remains one of the most affordable and reliable energy sources. That stability is directly tied to how it is produced and, just as important, how it is delivered.

Over the past decade, the United States has become an energy powerhouse, largely driven by natural gas. Domestic production is now approaching 110 billion cubic feet per day, rivaling the output of several major global producers combined.

Unlike oil and gasoline, which are priced on a global market and subject to international volatility, natural gas is largely priced regionally.
