WASHINGTON, District of Columbia, February 2, 2025 – Amy Andryszak, President & CEO of the Interstate Natural Gas Association of America (INGAA), responds to the announcement of tariffs on Canada and Mexico:
“The United States is blessed with an abundance of natural gas to provide Americans with low-cost energy, to transform the U.S. into a manufacturing superpower, and to maintain and extend the United States’ lead in critical emerging industries like artificial intelligence. But the United States relies on an expansive pipeline network to access its natural gas supply, and America’s pipeline companies currently depends on imports of specialized parts to provide safe, affordable, reliable delivery of natural gas.
“With targeted exceptions to tariffs for imports of essential energy infrastructure components, President Trump can protect the United States’ interests while powering a growing manufacturing sector and economy. INGAA is committed to working with the President and his Administration to develop those exceptions and to ensure that tariffs do not hinder the pipeline sector’s ability to invest in energy infrastructure and deliver Americans the benefits of natural gas. “
