The Legislative Committee represents the interests of the interstate natural gas pipeline industry before Congress, federal departments and agencies as needed. The committee advocates policies to promote new natural gas supplies and policies that support efficient construction and utilization of natural gas infrastructure. The committee members educate Members of Congress and their staffs about the need for a healthy energy industry, and explain how certain legislative proposals affect interstate pipelines’ access to capital.
Recently, the committee has focused on comprehensive energy legislation. It has also worked to defeat harmful amendments to the Natural Gas Act.
The Legislative Committee meets on a monthly basis in Washington, D.C. to coordinate INGAA’s and its members’ advocacy on pending legislation and energy policy. The committee generally is comprised of staff from the member companies’ Washington, D.C. offices or consultants retained by members for such purposes.
